About the Character
Name: Shawn Otomiya (“The Wings of Night”) Age: 28 Gender: male Sexual Orientation: straight Race: nobody Side: darkness Rank: #6 of the RNG Group: Rebellion of Nobody Guardians
The Appearance
Eye Color: pale blue Skin Color: Caucasian (he’s quite pale) Hair: short and shaggy, with bangs; the color is jet black with an almost white-blue sheen to it Height: 5’9” Weight: 150 lbs. Clothing: While traversing the ‘normal’ worlds, Shawn’s attire consists of several parts. The first of these resides on his hands and arms. Up to about the elbow, he wears a pair of gloves. These look like normal, leather gloves, except for the ring and pinky finger portions on each hand. This part is cut off at about the middle knuckle. Around his upper arms he wears arm warmer sorts of articles of clothing. The bases (parts nearest the skin) are the same color as his gloves and sleeveless shirt: navy. The portion of cloth that covers roughly 2/3 of these arm warmers is white, the same color as his sleeveless jacket. Around his neck are two accessories: a necklace with an elongated crystal attached to the end of it, and a belt buckle sort of item. His shirt is sleeveless and navy. His jacket is sleeveless, ripped along part of the sides with the collar turned down and three black straps that can hold his jacket closed, should he will it. Shawn wears a pair of brown pants with, at the top, three buckles holding it up. He wears black tennis shoes with white socks. (Not that one can see the socks, as they’re hidden by the shoes and the pants.) Halloween Town:HT outfit Atlantica: This particular nobody runs around (well, he swims, but that’s beside the point) Atlantica nearly clothes-less. But fear not! From the waist down he sprouts fins that resemble those of a red (with a purple sheen) beta fish (Siamese Fighting Fish). He keeps his gloves and accessories on, and his sword resides on his back. Timeless River: His appearance doesn’t change too drastically. All that really happens is some distortion his regular appearance (he appears more cartoon-like) and he becomes black and white. Pridelands: In the Pridelands, Shawn turns into a black and white speckled peregrine falcon (only he’s much better looking… *shot multiple times*). He still wears his accessories, but finds it a little more difficult lugging that giant sword of his around, than he does in most worlds. Space Paranoids: Nothing much changes here either. His clothes receive blue data lines, and he wears a version of the cyber cap that is worn in Tron, but aside from that, he looks fairly normal. Picture:The precious.
The Background
Hometown: Waters of Fire Family: Mother – unknown (got nabbed by the heartless) Father – deceased Elder brother – unknown (ran away from home, presumed dead) Elder sister - deceased Personality: Seeing as he’s a nobody, Shawn doesn’t have much of a ‘personality’, per se. He can’t feel. He has no heart. However, whenever he does fake a personality to hide the fact that he’s a nobody, it is always the same thing.
Very much like when he was a somebody, this nobody has a tendency to act in quite the light-hearted manner. He’s playful, somewhat flirtatious, and joking and doesn’t take things too seriously. Heck, he’ll even laugh. After practicing for years and years, he’s perfected this fake laugh of his. (When he really laughs, it’s nowhere near being light hearted. It’s quite dark, actually.) It doesn’t matter whether someone’s mad at him or not, he will push them to the edge with this habit of his. Why should he care if they’re mad? It’s not like they’ll last more than five minutes should they attack him.
When he does act something aside from jokingly, it’s either caring or empathetic. Of course, if they knew his true nature, they wouldn’t get within a few hundred feet of him. No, the only reason why he’d act like this would be to find out the weaknesses and problems of others and use them against said people, in case they somehow turn against him or turn their backs on him. In reality, he’s quite callous and doesn’t give a rip about anyone’s problems, likes, dislikes, or any of the above.
Should one of his comrades pull him away from a conversation with a mortal, or anything of the sort, Shawn’s demeanor changes in less than a split second. Seeing as how he usually despises faking emotion, it’s no large feat to drop the somebody act. He, outside of hanging around mortals, never smiles and always has a cold and heartless look in his eyes. It’s enough to chill one from the inside out. The only thing that can possibly change this demeanor, even around his comrades, is when it comes to birds. Without a heart or not, whenever he is with birds (they’re attracted to him, apparently), they make him feel like he really is complete. It matters not who watches, these winged creatures are about the only things that will make him smile a nearly genuine smile. History: Peace, solitude, and quiet all described the way Shawn Otomiya’s childhood went. Or, they should have. Of course, there were always the problems that his farming parents had with his two elder siblings. This bird-loving male had to sit through his childhood watching his overly stressed parents deal with the health problems of his big sister and the normal, teenage hormonal issues of his big brother. If these weren’t bad enough as things tended to go, at the tender age of 10, Shawn’s brother ran away from home. Seeing as there was some fighting going on close to where they lived, the chances of his brother being killed were fairly high. Dead or not, either way he never saw his brother again.
Three years later, when he was nearly pushed into starting to train (starting off at the Kilimari rank, of course) with the sword, tragedy struck again. It was his father, this time. There was an accident, while he had been farming. A storm had struck suddenly and, against his better instincts, he had stayed outside. If it had just been rain, all would have been fine. Sadly enough, it was accompanied by lightning. As he had been with the disappearance of his brother, Shawn was devastated, though probably not as nearly as his mother and sister. His sister and father had been very close, as his father had been the one who mainly took care of his fragile older sibling. His mother was devastated because not only had she lost a child, but the love of her life as well. This proved to be too much for his big sister and so, adding to his mother’s and his already stabbed and beaten hearts, she passed on.
Shawn did everything he could to comfort his mom. She was the only family he had left and he wasn’t willing to lose her as well. Aside from training very, very hard in order to release his own negative feelings, bird watching, and acting like he was flying while over the waters nearby, he tried to be the best kid he could be. Most of the time this was just an act, though. Few people wanted to talk to the ‘jinxed kid’, so almost all of the ‘friends’ he’d had in the past had deserted him. The only one to stick by him through thick and thin was his best friend, Hayden. When Shawn could no longer keep his feelings locked up for his mother, he would track down Hayden and go on rants and vents about everything. Being to soft spoken listener he was, Hayden just sat and listened.
The two grew closer over the course of the years. Even when entering adulthood, the two were nigh inseparable. It was thanks to his best friend that Shawn was finally able to let go of all that had happened in the past and become fairly carefree. Of course he still took care of his mother to some extent, comforting her when she had a relapse back into a depressed state of mind, but for the main part the two of them were able to move on in life. His mom had found a few friends in the midst of her own struggle that helped her somewhat, alongside Shawn, and after finally recovering somewhat, she began to have fun with them. (It was actually Hayden who gave Shawn his sword. It was for Hayd’s 20th birthday. At first, Shawn didn’t know whether to bless or curse his friend, seeing’s the sword was heavy.)
Eventually, around the time that he had finally reached about the Killimaray level of warrior (He would have been roughly 27-28 at that time.), was when he first encountered the heartless. His best friend had been married for about four years at this point, and had two kids, one age 3 the other, 6 months. He, on the other hand, was still single and planned on being so for the rest of his life. Anyways, Shawn had been at home, making dinner while his mother sat sewing when there was commotion heard outside. Waters of Fire was always quiet and peaceful, even during times of war, so when there was any sort of riot or commotion happening, things must be awful.
In being who he was, Shawn had to go outside and help defend whoever needed help. What he saw was most definitely unexpected. Instead of a neighboring people doing the attacking, there were black, yellow-eyed bug creatures chasing after people. No one was spared: men, women, children… All were attacked, some even turned into the black creatures themselves. After trying, and failing, to save a few people, it crossed his mind that he should probably be helping out his mother first, and foremost. As if on cue, a spine chilling wail arose from his home. The Kilimaray warrior broke into a sprint. When he reached home, he found his mother trying to beat back the creatures with a chair. There were too many, even for Shawn and his mother together. The last thing he saw before darkness was his mother being taken down as well.
When he awoke, he was in a completely different area, right in front of a large skyscraper. He still had everything on him, but he felt…different. More specifically, he couldn’t feel, and that struck him as being odd. Most of the rest of what happened to him after that was pretty much a blur. He joined a group called the Nobody Guardians, decided they were being weak in how they went about things, broke off, and joined the anti-NG group with a very similar name: the Rebellion of Nobody Guardians. At least this way he could have fun. (As much as a nobody could have, in any case.)
The Personal Info
Weapon(s): A long and heavy black sword he named ‘Falcon’s Gaze’. (See above picture.) Ability/Abilities: Shawn’s element is air/wind. Depending on whether he’s in a fight or not, he can create the air so that it’s a warm (or cool) breeze or turn it into the devastating force it can potentially be. As he loves birds, air, and anything off the ground, he has a tenancy to create an air current that, if directed properly, allows him to fly. It’s much more fun than walking, though it tends to drain his energy. Complimenting this flying ability, is one of a sort of telekinesis. Though while telekinesis is technically being able to move objects with the mind, in this case, it refers to moving objects with an air current of sorts. The only thing is, is that if any current is moved in a poor direction, whatever is being moved tumbles back to earth. Any crushes?: Null. Other: He is quite partial to birds (especially birds of prey).
